Spend some time on an Amish tour in Lancaster County and experience how the Pennsylvania Amish really live today.

The best way to understand the history and culture of Lancaster’s Amish is to begin your trip to PA Dutch Country with a visit to The Amish Village! The experience begins with a 25-minute tour of our authentic Amish farmhouse and tells the story of the Amish lifestyle today. Your local tour guide will explain the history of the Lancaster Amish and some of their religious traditions.

Be sure to ask your guide how cell phones and solar panels fit into their centuries-old lifestyle, why there’s a kitchen in the basement and what you can tell about an Amish man just by looking at his hat!

After the guided tour, you are free to take some time and explore our 12-acre Village Grounds. Check out the blacksmith shop, see real homework on display in our one-room schoolhouse and meet Pete the mule. Even relax for a snack in our scenic picnic area.

New this year, we’re pleased to introduce a real Amish school teacher in our Amish schoolhouse! Every Saturday from 10am-4pm Miss Lavina, an actual Amish school teacher, will be on hand to chat with guests and answer questions about Amish education. So stop by and say “hi,” and don’t forget your pencil.

You may arrive at The Amish Village anytime and join a regularly scheduled tour—they start about every 15 minutes. Larger groups and schools can call us or contact us by email to schedule a private tour.
